For those with bad credit, there are things know as secured credit cards. For these credit cards the holder is required to also open a savings account with the issuing bank. This savings account serves as insurance that you will pay them. The credit limit on the credit card is usually some percentage of the value of your deposit. These can be a good way to build or rebuild a credit rating. However, there are also a number of things of which you need to be careful when applying for these cards. For more information on these things go to the following website: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/secured.htm

It's according to how bad your credit is. There are some lenders, such as capital one and orchard(HSBC) who will give you an unsecured credit card with some baddies on your credit report. If your credit score is way below 575 or so then you can forget it! You'll have to get secured or one of the really subprime cards such as premiere who charge an arm and a leg each month in fees! Not worth it with those companies!

You can, but the cards and companies charge you OUTRAGEOUS interest rates, and aren't generally worth it. My credit is CRAP because of several credit cards I had in the past, when i was in college. A lot of cards are actually targeted to people whose credit isn't stellar and they don't expect to be able to pay them back. I would work on rebuilding what i have first, then move on to something like a debit card with a Visa / Mastercard logo, because then you're spending money you have rather than money that's being lended out.

You can, but I'd advise you to get a secured credit card, but the fees can be kindda nuts. Pay it off in full and on time every month. Better yet, just use a debit card until you can manage to raise your FICO scores.

I also think you can apply for a bad credit card, but there are some cases that people with bad credit are denied in getting bad credit cards. thus, the safest option is a secured credit card. Do you have bad credit or no credit?

Wal Mart or Sams Club will usually give you one. HIGH interest rate. Research it online. There are several you can get with no/poor credit but be prepared. There will be yearly fees, HIGH interest rates and low amounts to use ..usually only allow $2-$300 but they are out there. GL

Do you have a checking account? That's the first step. One with no bounced checks.

Try to apply store card. Best buy or Macy. Pay on time, that way you build good credit. After a while all credit card companies will come/you/ contact/ mail you to sign up for their service.

Be careful when you do find someone to issue you a credit card. Read the fine print, and check the interest rate, if there is a yearly charge for the card, and especially the penalty section in the event that you miss a payment. If you need help understanding the terms of your credit card, get help. Many cities have a credit counseling agency that may be able to help you get off on the right foot.
