Uploading on the internet to a server or website, etc. is when your computer is sending information to the website/server/etc (henceforth WSE). Every time you request a website, your web browser requests a site by uploading a small packet of data to a server. Downloading on the internet is when your computer recieves information from a WSE. Once the server acknowldeges that your computer requested a website, it will then send your computer the information. Same applies to documents, programs, and the like. I answered this as nice as I could but honestly... don't ask stupid questions; google it.
