Hi Mesia! How are you? I struggle writing without a computer. I just wrote a piece for my Men's Division Buddhist Meeting (i.e. as the presenter) and did well with word processing assistance. I'm good at throwing my inspirational thoughts on paper, and I do well to organize later. I was taught this in graduate school. Peace sister!

Yuck, the thought of a paper makes me want to vomit! They are a waste of time, and made me fat last winter (I had a paper to write every week last winter, I had no time to workout because I had to sit on the computer and write). But having to write so many papers did help me improve my writing skills a bunch!

I am writing one now, as a matter of fact. And while it is annoying, it does help me to be a better writer. I believe written communication is important for advancement in the job market, so I grit my teeth and get to it.

Try to get into it and enjoy the opportunity to express yourself. If you are not an accomplished writer of formal composition, then just pick a subject and start a conversation with yourself on paper. Have fun and think of yourself as the great authority on your subject. Personal experience and opinion is usually a simple start. Just get words on paper and come back and edit later. Pay attention to the details of spelling, punctuation, and grammar because they are very important and becoming a lost art - that skill, alone, will make you stand out among your peers. Stay focused.

I found that my best efforts were utterly wasted. (use utterly in a sentence.) Miss Roberts didn't read it. If she had, I would have been expelled. (loosen up and go with the flow...) :)

They do come in handy as a way of improving your skills at writing. However, the way to do it actually came to me AFTER I left school. Then I suddenly realised what they had been trying to teach me and I was able to teach others.

I hate writing essays...I get decent grades on what I write but I just hate the process of writing.

Now-a-days, with CONTENT being the key for websites, they can help immensely. You must write compelling copy for people to WANT to read it. Hard as it is, and believe it or not, if your dream is to not flip burgers for the rest of your life, a lot of school you don't believe you will EVER use, you do every day. (And even there, there are reports you must write to move up.)

I don't like writing essays for my 4U English class. It's a pain. It has to be written a certain way and I like just writing what I want, no matter what anyone says. The works cited page is also a pain.
