This error message usually comes up only after the printer has been used a lot of times. It indicates that the printhead is already worn out, and although I have seen printers still working despite the error message, the printout may already be of diminished quality from that point on. It's probably time to have the printer repaired or, better yet, have it replaced [Its more practical to get a new, updated printer for $70 than have the printhead of an old printer replaced for $50.] However, if the printer is still under its one year warranty, try calling the Epson helpline.

Is the printer still working? if not, there may be a mechanical fault. if it is still working, I couldn't tell you- its possible it detected a problem with it's print head that will either cause the image to be faded, "messed up" colors or leaving out one color alltogether because one of the pumps failed. I dont really know how inkjets really work, so I couldn't help u there. If the printer is working normally except for the error, LEAVE IT ALONE!!!! IF the printer is not working properly or at all, its a mechanical fault or print head fault. If your print head is dead/dying, or the gears are stripped it means $$$ (or $$$$$, as in a new printer) If u know how injets work u might be able to find a fix for it. Minor Part replacements may be cheap. depending on the printer, it may be a big job. It may be snap-out parts, like rollers, for example. in some cases, the print head, itself "snaps" out of it's mechanical system (what moves the head to and fro). THe parts may be screwed in. But some printers may not be designed for repair. Don't laugh, I think we'll see more of this in our disposable society. Some printers may have alot of parts glued or more-or-less permanently attached and are throwaways. with others, some parts may not be accessible non-destructively
