Both are historical. What happened in the most recent year. The yield is like interest on a savings account, it tells you how much the company is paying you and all other stock holders in dividends. It's money exiting the company. The P/E is the stock Price/Earnings. If you owned the company directly, it tells you what proportion of your investment it made back over the last year.
