Yes, I was laid off from a "dot com" in 2000 shortly before the entire company imploded. The slip wasn't actually pink, though.

I was let go over the phone before my shift from Merry Maids for being "too slow." Unfortunately for me (in the short-term) and Merry Maids' customers (each and every week!), my original cleaning trainer was my first m-i-l, who cleans even the top ledges of doors and behind and under appliances. In other words, my Merry Maids supervisor preferred a quick "lick-and-a-promise" to thoroughness.

My boss fired me for calling a good client, explained our situation, and got a payment in advance of due date to cover payroll..when my boss found out (I guess it embarrassed him), he fired me...even at that, I gave him two weeks to find someone else..of course he was a dramatic person and in the heat of the moment for effect he said "you're fired"..the next day he had his tail between his legs and was very remorseful and apologized and asked me to stay but the damage was done and I worked out the two weeks, left and never looked back..what a complete arrogant stupid jerk he was..I saved his a**...he realized it too late..his loss! :(
