Water, without it we wouldn't be sitting here now.
-
Carbon dioxide. Since it either has a solid form (dry ice) or a gaseous form (plain old CO2) Discovering a liquid form of it would be valuable.

Hey girl, how you and the family doing??? did you get my mail???? Anyway, yes i guess water is a valuable liquid even though i dont like to drink it, i couldnt live without it xxx

Water is not the most expensive liquid but the most valuable. Other valuable liquids would be oil and mercury. Wine might also be included: The world's most expensive bottle of wine that could actually be drunk today is also the most expensive wine ever sold in America, a Montrachet 1978 from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti that was hammered down at Sotheby's (nyse: BID - news - people ) in New York in 2001. The lot of seven bottles fetched $167,500, or $23,929 per bottle. This is an extraordinary price for a white wine, even in the rarified world of wine collecting. What happened was that two avid collectors were bidding against each other and got carried away, each refusing to yield as the price rose through the stratosphere.

Red Wine, it works wonders.

Mercury. (too literal?) ;)

Water without it we could not exist. It is the reason that we are unable (or the reason we believe we are thus far unable) to find life on other planets. (again so far)
