I so want one! Saw a few of them years ago in France and ever since I've wanted to keep one in the back end of a pickup to be my escape pod. :D

I think everyone in the USA should have one. They are energy efficient, small and easy to get around with. They are safe, and are the wave of the future.Sell the SUV's for they are wasteful in every way.

No substance. I have the option of driving 3 different ones and have put on lots of clicks on all of them, so I'm not an outsider. My problems with them: - No power - Bad shoulder checking visibility - Transmission is amazingly slow & uncooperative - Shaky at high speeds - Zero traction in anything more than rain - Manual steering - Parts keep breaking* - Hard to find in parking lot - Can't do any personal maintenance - must take to mercedes dealer - No storage space - Basically no suspension (can't hit speedbumps faster than 3km/h if you want to keep your teeth) - Very small fuel tank requiring constant refills - Very small sunvisors that don't swing to side window - No cruise control - Very touchy brake pedal - Expensive compared to similar vehicles - Any parts take 2-3weeks to order in and are never in stock. *In one year on one smart: - Fan Belt - Power steering belt - Left rear tire - Both headlights - Left rear taillight - Fuel level sensor (2 of them) - Transmission module - Something else in the engine I forget Good sides: - Quick to wash - Easy to park - Can park 2 in the same spot - Good maneuvering downtown - Discounted parking - Good on fuel - Decent headroom (I'm 6'4" and I fit) - Lots of torque - Stiff and robust - Lots of glass to see out of (including roof) - 4yr warranty covers almost everything There's my unbiased and fairly comprehensive 5minute review.
