Pain fades.
Pain is also a good thing. It reminds you that you still feel and still care. That's important. We are only as alive as our passions. To hurt is know that you are still alive, and just not happy, for now.
When you think positive and believe in yourself.
When your mindset starts to focus on pleasant matters, and perhaps, you get intrigued by someone new in your life.

If I may I'd like to add that to hurt is to know that you are still alive and without passion.

I disagree, happy biohazard. Without passions, there would be no hurt. Hurt is nothing more than passions denied, but the passions are still there and very-much alive.

All true, AsReal. I just get tired of it. After a while, you just start wishing you weren't constantly in pain.

I know, but it will pass. It is times like this when we, as evolved people, look forward and see what might be. The past has hurt, but it only keeps hurting you if you let it. You're still here, still alive, and still feeling, so the loss hasn't destroyed you, even if it feels like it does. As I told another friend, I hate to see someone hurt deeply, but I find a small comfort in knowing that to hurt deeply means you have the capacity to love deeply. That's a lot to offer, and you'll get the opportunity again to offer it. It starts with realizing that you've survived the worst of it, and developing a plan to move forward instead of looking back.
