Is it a good idea to have the "if I cook, you clean the dishes" rule? Has anyone had serious complications to it?

Yes it depends on your idea of what constitutes cooking, if i ask my g/f to stir something for a minute while i do something else she generally trys to claim to have cooked the entire meal lol

We used to have this agreement in our home, but I ended up deciding against it - my style of cooking means I clean as I go which leaves very little mess to deal with after eating dinner ~ my partner's style is to make one huge, enthusiastic mess. So now I cook and clean up after the same meal and my partner does the same when it's his turn. The end result is that he makes a much bigger effort to be less careless in the kitchen as he cooks.
