  • "Today, we witnessed the making of civil rights history in the US House of Representatives by the passing of ENDA. This vote by Congress is an important step at ensuring that millions of gay and lesbian Americans will never again have to go to work in fear of losing their jobs because of who they are. Our fight for equality will not be won overnight. It will be won one step at a time, and we will not give up until we reach the finish line. This is a critical piece of legislation and a major step toward the finish line of all Americans." ---Human Rights Campaign (HRC) president Joe Solmonese after passage of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) in the US House of Representatives by a vote of 235-184, the first time that a chamber of the US Congress has passed employment protections based on sexual orientation, on HRC Back Story, Nov 7.
  • Yes! I'm a member of HRC and have been keeping up with this voting on ENDA. I'm sure President G. Dubya Bigot will make every effort to veto this, but it's very promising! http://www.hrc.org/news/8161.htm
  • cool! about bloody time ...we have had that here in Australia for a number of years now and its working very well
  • I'm heartened at the passage of ENDA. Now it has to get through the Senate. After that, Bush has promised to veto it.
  • Yes, I knew about this weeks ago, because I'm a member of HRC. Everyone should join, because you can help influence your representatives by sending them letters, emails, faxing them, and calling them to help support bills like these. The HRC is truly amazing, and Joe Solmonese is a wonderful guy. But yeah, it's a great step towards a better future for the LGBT community.
