AMD chips generally provide better performance for the dollar; they are more cost-effective. They execute instructions more efficiently. Intel chips are more expensive and require more cycles to execute many instructions, but they run at higher clock speeds than their AMD equivalents, yielding roughly equal performance overall. Aside from that, they design new chips all the time so any answer to this will likely be dated and inaccurate soon.

I have built my last few systems and one thing that I found to be generally true is that AMD processors are better at gaming and Intel's are better at multimedia content creation. This is due to AMD's optimized processors and Intel's sheer speed. Now, this is changing with Intel's Core 2 processors which are currently the top processors in the market. But like the other commenter stated, this comment will soon be out of date so you'll need to keep up with the latest. You can find a lot of good information at cnet and Google news in the tech section.

intel blows nuts but makes brings the cum and the AMD sucks the nuts hard sprayin that cum everywhere

AMD will always beat intel as amd has double the fsb of intel

as of 2009. Intel:Pro: performance, and speed in every aspect. Con:expensive AMD:cost. Con:slower, flaky.
