The question does not ask about "continents", it asks about LAND MASSES (making Kevisarus' answer incorrect).

Continents are taught only by tradition (there is no geographical definition of "continent") and they vary by culture. For example, Americans are traditionally taught that "Australia" is a continent while Europeans are taught there is a continent named "Oceania". The "continent of Europe" refers to a group of nations connected by culture and without distinct geographical boundaries.

"Land mass" refers to contiguous (connected by land) areas above sea level. For example, Africa, Asia and Europe are all connected by land, as are the Americas. Answering the question (as written) is problematic for two reasons:

a)The question suggests there are seven land masses when in fact there are hundreds of thousands, as each island on Earth is a "land mass" by definition. So, it can best be answered by combining the two parts of the question and answering "What are the seven largest land masses on Earth?"

b)If you include ice, Antarctica becomes a contiguous land mass. Ice is frozen water and not land but it's difficult to ascertain the size of the separate land masses that are under the Antarctic ice sheets. The same is true for Greenland. However, it's traditional to categorically include ice in lists of land masses when it's above sea level and is generally usable as a contiguous land mass. The problem with doing this is that during Northern hemispherical winter, northern polar ice connects Americas and Afro-Eurasia into one contiguous mass. So, the answer must assume Northern hemispherical summer (or else add Madagascar).

Therefore, the best way to answer the question is:
    1) Afro-Eurasia
    2) Americas
    3) Antarctica
    4) Australia
    5) Greenland
    6) New Guinea
    7) Borneo

(Larry, if it's a 3rd-grade question, why couldn't you answer it?)
