It shows him you are ready to be one with him. And It shows the world unity between the two of you.

Besides showing your love and commitment to him, I found it much more convenient for when you have kids. Chances are they will have his last name--even if you hyphenate, it's usually your side that will fall off.

Honestly I took the cue from Sexy_in_my_mind`s answer & came out with this conclusion that "She is now in control & the beast is tamed thoroughly".

It is fairly easy process to change your name, but if no kids are involved there is no reason except that it can be another connection for you two. Just tradition mostly. It could, not sure, be a little problem when filling taxes and bank loans etc. I need to change my name back. I am just lazy...paperwork and government offices are time consuming.
