Makes perfect sense. Do it all the time.
-
Yeah I do. Getting the top answer doesn't matter to me at all. It's enough that I was able to answer the question, and got some points for it.
-
Being the top answer is not important to me. I have rated answers from other users many, many times and as a result, it bumped mine down. When I answer, I can only give the best answer I know how to give. If it deserves to be the top answer, then others will let me know with their ratings.

I dole out points for anything that is good. If I had a bad answer, I surely would want to reward a better answer than mine. I may have tried but apparently it wasn't good enough. It shouldn't be a competition here.
-
If it is a good answer I give it points just like I would if we were the 99th and 100th to answer.
-
Yes ! I have done that . I've read someone else's answer and thought to myself, "Damn That Was A Good One" and I'll rate them up accordingly.
-
I just go through questions and give UR to every answer I feel is helpful. I never even noticed that it might put someone about me. Hmmmmm.
-
Many the time my question is given less points than the answers that follows. That means more to me than the points. I rather have responses, intelligent and/or fun ones, than no responses at all. That part bothers me. Not the less or no points.

Yes it makes sense. It pushes (just a little bit) in the directions that interest you personally. The board evolves through the ratings. The rule-makers load the petri dishes... and then we bacteria compete...
