  • Heya! I take Clonazepam when I am having a panick attack. Here is the difference. The meds work for different things. The doses are always small with them, and usually 0.5 or 1mg is enough. Clonazepam is an anti-convulsant, mainly used for panick attacks. It's also used as a sedative, relief of social phobia, acute mania, restless leg syndrome and neiralgic pain. Works a little differently than the other. Lorazepam is a little strong than clonazepam (so 0.5mg of it might be very close to 1mg of clonazepam). It's also a sedative, muscle relaxant, and is used for alcohol withdrawl. The main difference is the dosage like you asked (see above) and it has a slower onset, but a longer duration than clonazepam. Cheers!
  • According to the Benzo Comparison Chart http://tinyurl.com/fsbjv .25 Clonazepam has a simular effect to 1mg of Lorazepam which has a simular effect to 5mg of diazepam. I take Ativan because I have severe liver disease and its one of the few benzos that isn't oxidized in the liver. Personally, I can't tell much of any difference in 'the way I feel' no matter which benzo that I take. Some hit you quicker and some wear off quicker, but other than that...

  • 1) They are both anxiolytic benzodiazepines. However, they are different products with different properties. Further information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clonazepam http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorazepam http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzodiazepine 1) "When considering equi-potencies of the various benzodiazepines available, diazepam has the lowest tablet strength of 2 mg and is available in liquid form allowing for small dosage reductions not possible with more high potency benzodiazepines. Small dose reductions cannot be achieved with high potency benzodiazepines including clonazepam 0.5 mg equivalent to 10 mg of diazepam and lorazepam (Ativan) 1 mg which is equivalent to 10 mg of diazepam. Lorazepam is available in the USA as a 0.5 mg dose form which is equivalent to 5 mg of diazepam." Source and further information: http://www.bcnc.org.uk/whyvalium.html
  • Ive been on most of the benzos, ativan is still working for me, but the dose goes up when anxiety is high. I have a high threshold for all meds, so it won't work forever. Xanax worked for awhile, valium, not at all, so Im on this now. They all have different compounds that bind them, so, they are different
