  • Yes. It is always good to think, and listen, before speaking. I am reminded of the adage, "Better to be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt." :o)
  • Absolutely - I don't delude myself into thinking I'm some fountain of knowledge : D I'm but one person, there are another 7 billion others for me to listen to. Everyone else together has more knowledge than any individual does, therefore listening is more efficient than speaking (but of course, people need to speak otherwise that knowledge is never communicated). Also, I hate it when people speak for the sake of speaking... I rather enjoy my peace and quiet, so if people want to come up and yap on about irrelevant, meaningless nonsense by all means, but I won't be listening, just marvelling at the efficiency with which you can waste oxygen.
  • Yes we have two ears and one mouth. We should use them in that proportion.
  • Yes and this is something that I have learned the hard way. When you are thinking of something to say instead of listening you can miss the whole jest of the conversation the other person is saying. I have gotten in more trouble then you can believe by not listening.
  • I think it is impossible to speak well and with any understanding without good listening. How can you help or understand and then add to the conversation or assist a friend without first being quiet and letting their words inside you? Can't be done.
  • i think it is good to listen more and speak less. If you do listen more, then you will learn more, and when you do speak, it will be something wise.
  • Yes, sometimes we say too many things without thinking them through.
  • It depends why you are listening, along with which words you are saying. If you listen to destroy other peoples lives and speak less to make yourself look innocent, but you don't actually mean the words you say, then you suck. :)
