  • Try going to Ace, Home Depot, or other hardware store in your area, they might be able to copy it for you. Is there a reason you do not want to go to the dealer?
  • I would just hunker down and go to the dealer, the quality will be better and you can have the key cut to the vin or the code on the car- better for the locks.
  • The price of a new key is trivial, wherever you go. If you are unwilling to go to a dealer, who can duplicate the original from the key code, your best bet is a locksmith. The key cutters (both hardware and operator) in hardware stores can make a working copy, but only if the original is in good condition. A locksmith can make a key that will fit and work, from just about any quality original. I have had usable keys made from both bent and broken originals by a locksmith, plus one for which the correct blank was not available and the locksmith had to rework a slightly different blank to fit the lock.
