  • I think that timing is a primary reason Babycakes.
  • For me it can be any or a combination of those things you mentioned. The crowd that was around the time the question was asked didn't get into it: Timing. Maybe some are very good but too specific or hard to answer: Subject. "Just what" also applies. AB can be unpredictable at times : )
  • Generally speaking answers to technical questions receive very few points and answers to to easy to answer conversational questions get more points. Of course, stuff that is posted while the US is awake have the best chance of getting points because that's where most users are located.
  • I believe it all hinges on popularity. I may love talking about tea cups, but no body else could give a damn so who would answer? Ya' know
  • I also think timing is important, most people go on at a certain time of day each day, for a certain length of time, like when they are at work or relaxing at home. The questions you think are great may not appeal to people on at that time. A lot of people only look at the first few pages of questions so once it has gone beyond that it is sort of gone. Also some people mainly answer their friends questions?
  • Timing is a big part. I have resurrected a few old questions and have seen them get the points they deserved in the first place. I also think many people want to answer easy questions and not read long questions.
  • I think timing can often have alot to do with it- I've asked some questions that had it been during "rush hour" I might have gotten alot more answers- and I believe that since most people on AB generally go for the answers on the main page as opposed to searching- they probably won't get many more answers. I also think that if people don't know about the subject they may not answer, rate or comment on the topic. I wouldn't know if an answer in quantum physics is good or not, so I might just leave it well enough alone, even if the answers are fantastic. I wouldn't know the difference.
