my special area is evolutionary psychology. and according to evolutionary theory it is advantageous to a male to have multiple partners because it increases the chance of reproducing and passing their genes onto offspring and also allows for offspring. on the other hand females do not benefit they choose carefully their partner to produce offspring because their parental investment is higher i.e they have to carry the baby for months and feed the baby. therefore they have to pick a male with resources to look after her and heroffspring
