• Was it worth it? I mean, it seems the site was heating up in a good way before that event, and then all went to hell after. I realize from what I've read it was culminating before that, nothing happens in a vacuum, but honestly, was it worth it?

• For me it was. I guess you'd have to ask each person in attendance to get a sum! :) Also, I'm not aware of the site having "gone to hell"... the hostility flares are like sunspots... they come every few months, burn off a few users who should be taking breaks to cool down, and then things return to normal. It's never the end of the world.

• It's burned off great users who weren't involved and thought the whole mess was ridiculous and petty. But as long as it was worth it for you and the handful that attended, that's great.

• Well I agree these wars are ridiculous and petty, but I guess I've been thru enough of them to become somewhat jaded about it... I've lost lots of friends here, people who bumped up against some irritant that was a deal-breaker for them. I do hate that. But new people come and contribute good stuff, and I make friends with them. I don't see that this basic cycle really changes much, it's like waves. The good new folks who've shown up lately... many of them will burn out in the next wave of silly cyber-wars, but hopefully the experience of meeting and talking on AB will have proven enjoyable and valuable before that happens.
