I know how to prevent them, but how do I treat an ingrown toenail? Them suckers hurt!

It's gonna hurt like Hades, but you gotta dig it out and cut it off. Happens to me all the time, because of a bone issue in my feet... I feel your pain.

If you can afford it or if you have insurance I would suggest having a podiatrist take care of it to lessen the likelyhood of infection. There is also a simple procedure they can do to keep it from recurring.

Make you wanna cut your toe off don't they? I always just cut them out myself. But I've heard some people say that if you cut a "v" shape in the center of your toe nail it supposedly does something to help ingrown toenails...whether or not it works...I haven't a clue!

the "v" cut does not work at all - in fact, you'll cause yourself more pain if you do it that way. i would suggest going to see a podiatrist right away. he/she will be able to take care of it the right way and relieve your pain instantly. good luck!

I had a podiatrist cut one out and boy did that hurt like nothing else I've experienced. He injected some stuff into my toe to numb the pain but the pain of that injection almost made it worthwhile to go without. They stuck the needle in about 5 different places and moved it around as they injected the stuff! It was also quite painful for the next couple of days making it difficult to put on shoes, walk etc. BUT in the end I guess it's worth it...but I don't know..I have another ingrown toenail on the other foot but I'm having a hard time convincing myself to do that again!

A podiatrist performed ingrown toenail surgery on both of my big toes. Yes !! The deadening hurt like nine kinds of hell !! Was it worth it ? You betcha !! The sides never grew back and everything looks normal and I haven't had any more problems. That was about five years ago.

A visit to the chiropodist is always best, but I've heard two tips and they worked on me: 1. Cut your nail straight across the top (don't shape them. 2. If the sides of your nail are growing into the skin, cut a small V into the top middle of the nail and it eventually allows the sides of the nail to pull out.

i was trimming my big toe nail and now a piece of it is stuck in the side of my toe ive been soaking it epsom salts and pertty much got the infection out now how do i num it so i can cut it out and file it
