Help answer this question below.
Dry with hairdryer, leave in a warm place for a week then pray, but keep switching it on to check will only make things worse........or, claim on insurance.
1) Unplug it
2) Take the battery out
3) Leave it to dry for as long as it takes, at least overnight.
4) If it doesn't turn on, the data on the hard drive may still be ok, but data recovery is another question.
.
Good luck
Use a hair drier on low speed and cool temperature

is it a good sign?
by amm8009 on November 11th, 2007
Definitely not a good sign, it sounds like a short circuit and I would certainly take my advice, do NOT switch it on, it will be a long time lump of useless plastic, try what I said and it may recover. good luck!

sorry to bother again, if its the hard drive can it b fixed??
by amm8009 on November 11th, 2007
It's unlikely to be the hard drive because they are sealed against dust so water will only affect the electrics and then the same thing with the hairdryer and time is needed, "IF" it is the hard drive you may be able to buy a new one or change the circuit board from an old one which you probably wont have for a laptop and then to find it is something else means you have wasted your money, the clicking from a short circuit does sound like the HD click but if you are still trying to turn it on you may be ruining it forever. By the way, you can ask me all you want after all this is AB :o)

thanks a lot! it is just so tempting to switch it on tho to check it! but i wont again now. its not looking good tho. do u think it can b fixed? and will it take long if i send it away to a workshop?? again thanks fo r listening to me!!

Take it from me, laptops cost more to fix than replace, IF yours IS water-damaged it will be the motherboard that is shot plus all on-board components, or the power-supply or both and the cost is prohibitive and even IF you did get it repaired you may find something else will go due to the previous damage maybe some time later. Only when you are absolutely sure that it has dried out should you switch it on, then fingers x'd. Take off the battery pack and if you can, take out the hard drive and disk drive, they sometimes have large lock screws holding them in place and dry them seperately, this will also let you point the hairdryer more to the inside :o)
