How do you feel about mandatory minimum sentencing?

I love it. It helps to keep the criminals where they belong. However, I think about ten years needs to be added to most of them with a mandatory minimum sentence for murder, rape, and child molestation being immediate death. I want to see parole and probation go away too.

GREAT they should bring it in in the UK, here a peodophile can kill a child and be back on the streets in eight/twelve years.

I'm all for it, but in the UK at least we will need to either build more prisons or release more prisoners. I have no real problem with either option, but the tabloid press would have a field day with the latter, so it won't happen. Government has a problem with the former, so it won't happen. So I suppose mandatory minimum sentencing won't happen in the UK.
