Ahh, I had the same problem a while ago. All I did was manually update the program, and all was fixed.

That can also be a virus. Try some good Antivirus programs.

Click on Start Select control panel and then security center. You'll see which of the three options is causing the alert. If you have the feature covered by some software that Windows doesn't recognize, then there is a selection that will allow you to take control of that feature and stop the warnings. Otherwise do something to address the feature, like install an Anti-virus program.

IT may be spyware. I just had WinX Security Center on my computer and i found out it is fake anti-spyware http://www.spyware-techie.com/winxsecuritycenter-how-to-remove-winx-security-center/ I used that guide to remove it.

Just install antivirus. If you already have one ,just update and scan for treatment.

If that little box ask's you to run a scanner to fix the problem then you have a Trojan downloader on your computer. If the little box offers no options to fix the problem then it is probably Window's or Anti-Virus software related. If its aTrojan you can remove it with Adware, or A-Squared Free,or Malwarebytes. I would also recommend downloading Easy Cleaner from pchell.com to remove any registry entries that Trojan placed there.

Mine was a result of the Security Center not recognizing my AV software.

if its a small red shield usually this is windows security center and its telling you something has been turned off, either firewall, automatic updates or virus protection is off or out of date. go to control panel and click on that icon and look at those items, they should all say ON. If one says OFF there is you problem and you need to address it. If its either of the first two just turn them on, unless your running another firewall like zonealarm, then turn it back on. if the last item is the issue then you need to find out what is going on with your virus protection. Maybe you have Norton or MacaFee and it has expired, this can cause that kind of problem. Here is a list for you in case this is the problem. This makes it a valuable program in that you can run it every so often and print off and save for you keys if for no other reason. *** Note: It is wise to only run one virus program at a one time but run as many spyware as you like, only run them one at a time, other wise they will conflict with each other, it is good to have more than one as each will find some thing the other did not. Unistall any other program as they may conflict such as Norton,MacAfee etc. The only one this list that runs in safemode F8 is AVG anti-spyware, which does work great in safemode. Also wise thing to do is to run the virus & spyware program once without internet connection and then again with internet, as some times the virus will try to block program other wise when internet is running.
