  • Name calling and throwing insults around.
  • I was put in the PB for 1 day for fighting with 2 other users. It was mainly for insulting the other person. The word used was "idiot"
  • Babycakes answer, bullying, and trolling.=)
  • Spamming the site (advertising for a particluar website or product) is a p-box offense. Attacking other members by name-calling or repeated (undeserved) downrating is a p-box offense. Repeated use of "cursing" when it isn't germane to the context is a p-box offense. If you aren't sure, you can always read the terms of use for the site.
  • In my case, standing up for yourself and dishing it out dirty style.
  • My example is different. Everyone else before me is right. They have provided a example of the Penalty Box. Well for me, I was placed twice for giving too many positive ratings in a short amount of time. But this is only to the extreme level. If you max out a few users, it may be fine, but if it goes off like 30 users or so, then that could be a problem, which happened to me.
  • whats the penalty box? how does that work?
  • I could but I won't. I'd just as soon put all this ugliness behind me and focus on happy thoughts.
  • To score a goal?
  • As explained by Jodie44 previously: (Qoute) "The penalty box is AB terminology for "locked out of your account". If the powers-that-be at Answerbag HQ feel that a user is abusive, posts obscene material, or spams the site, he gets locked out of his account for a certain period of time. You can also get penalty-boxed for responding aggressively to abusive comments, which is called "perpetuating a conflict". No one in the PB can ask and/or answer questions, write comments, or rate anything. As far as I know, the first offense lasts from one to three days and up to twenty years or more, if the user continues his/her offensive behavior. Ask me how I know about that one, LOL The AB staff members and the Community Leaders are the only people who can penalty-box anyone. Regular users, no matter how highly they're ranked, do not have that power." [REFERENCE]: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/135200
  • Bad behavior. Usually starting arguments or Cussing an AB member out. Instead of having your account go Bye Bye they just put you in the penalty box as a punishment
  • Spamming, tons of nonsense, verbal abuse, trolling, and bullying are all reasons why people are penalty boxed.

  • Personally I was Penalty Boxed from March 10th to March 13th for posting inflammatory content. Other reasons: 1. Spamming the site 2. Impersonating other users 3. Attacking other users
  • you have to be an asshole an cuss a lot !
  • Because we've been naughty ;)
  • By not playing well with others.
  • Because we like to fight the good fight, but, please, dont get me mixed up with the trolls, and spammers, who try to fill this site with horribly negative, and offensive material, and cheap forms of advertisement. And insults, and attacking other members, and spreading rumors, and not being family friendly, and posting links to flagged , offensive questions.... And being a bad bagger. Regards Mate!
  • For saying what they think.
  • Some-times just for having the guts to give an honest opinion about one of the "elite" members here. And you loosers know who you are.
  • It all depends. Sometimes they've really broken the rules. Sometimes it's all about a personal issue.
  • For offensive language, name calling, racist behavior, attacking other users, spamming, obscene language or avatar or name and refusing to change them. If you act aggressively and won't stop being in conflict with others. You can get placed in their for downrating individuals too much or often, and even for posi-trolling them too often, so for any kind of trolling behavior. You can get in there for constant use of all capitol letters, flagging incorrectly too often, and impersonating others.
  • I'd tell you, but they'd stick me in the penalty box.
  • I've realized just recently that the staff obviously have their own ideas about what is offensive and what isn't. And that's the problem with censorship. No one knows exactly where the line is.
  • I believe being abusive to another user, offensive in general, and/or having a "sock puppet" duplicate account for nefarious purposes.
  • This is interesting. Loads of questions on the bad old PB. http://www.answerbag.com/c_view/5390
