I think it would be possible. That would be a very commendable personality.

I try to be. It doesn't always work out, but to me being open-minded is less about being willing to change my mind and more about being tolerant and understanding that other people matter just as much as I do, and I need to love them and respect them as people, regardless of how much their opinions disagree with my own. Plus, nobody's always right, and you know, I could be wrong. I don't THINK I am, but I wouldn't have my opinion if I didn't think it was right. However,... I have no doubt that some things I think are right aren't, and some things I think aren't, really are, and I'd hate to have to explain to God why I persuaded people away from the truth when I was the one being an idiot.

In sort of a way I think. I have pretty strong personal beliefs. But I am "open minded" only in the way that I try to open my heart, instead of my mind. I can have compassion, sympathy, even love, for someone even if they do what I don't agree with. I hope I made some sense here, I don't always explain things well. :-P
-
Aye.. indeed. Do not confuse an open-mind with a weak will.
-
Yes, I think so. I can have very definite opinions of what I want/expect out of my life/relationships etc. However, I can understand and accept that other people aren't necessarily like me. For example I am monogamous...other couples aren't...my situation works for me..they seen happy with theirs...it's all fine to me.
-
I have absolutely no problem in doing so. I am very open minded and hold very strong personal beliefs.
-
I am stronger in my beliefs than I am open-minded on somethings.
-
As long as its truth.
-
Great question. Yes, I think a person can be open-minded enough to listen to and consider other possibilities. If you have strong enough personal beliefs, this should only confirm your beliefs.
-
Absolutely, just because you have your beliefs and convictions does not mean that you can close out all other thoughts and beliefs. You can stand for what you believe in and also open your mind and your heart to try and see things from another's point of view, regardless of whether you agree with them or not.
-
Yes, absolutely. As long as you separate YOUR opinion from OTHER PEOPLE'S opinions. I have the right to believe that god doesn't exist, and believe strongly in that. But to be open minded is to say, I COULD BE wrong, and that it's possible that someone else could be right, and that they don't have to believe the same thing as me. They could believe there are 12 gods or even goddesses and that they all take monkeys as pets. Who knows!
-
Yes of course i think that you can accept and respect others without compromising your beliefs and at the same time expand your horizons while trying different things.
-
Yes I can.
-
Undoubtedly! You have to be "open-minded" to obtain the information needed to form strong, personal beliefs.
