Not at all! Some poetry only makes sense when on paper! There are poems I've read (names don't spring to mind at the moment...) which are written in a spiral, or other certain pattern which helps deliver the message of the poetry.

no way! i have a poem where if you read it aloud it just sounds like words on a page but if you just think about about what each word means then you will understand the poem.
