    the color stands out well against black print.
    No other color is as pleasing on the eyes nor stands out as well. Why do you think the Steelers have such cool uniforms.

    In the case of post-its, it's an easy to see color and contrasts well with the standard ink and pencil colors.
    .
    In the case of highlighter pens, it's essentially the same. You want lighter, high hue colors that don't blot out type while also being bright enough to be different from the paper color.
