We need people like that so that us people who rarely ask questions have something to answer. I often wonder why I give so many answers and ask so few questions. I can't really be that smart so maybe I just like pretending that I am!

For the answers...duh! :O)
-
I always try to give a comment or a thankyou on the questions i ask.
-
Maybe because your just after information and they give you what you need? Or because the questions just an attempt for points?

I don't know about any vets, but when I first started here on AB I was desperate for answers to certain question and had no mind for etiquette whatsoever. I used to also be a huge question person but now I'm turning into an answerer. hmmm

Usually when they just want answers or points, rather than education and discussion ; )

Sometimes you just don't have anything to say. I for one am not terribly social.

I always thank everybody for taking the time to answer my questions and share their opinions. Sometimes I share my views on somebody's answer, but at times I really don't want to share my own opinion or make people think that their opinions are wrong because they don't match my own. Every member is entitled to their own thoughts without being forced to accept somebody elses. It takes a lot of effort to make sure that every answer to a question is read, understood and receives some sort of acknowledgement. Some people just haven't gotten into the habit of commenting on every answer or just don't have the time. Some people really don't care about the answers and are just trying to rack up points.
