Outdoors refers to a greater sphere of area than just outside. I went outside to my porch but I went outdoors to the go to the park.

Being a Yankee who moved to the South 40 years ago, I still say "outside" - AND "outdoors".
-
Outside. Outdoors was a term my grandmother used for going to the bathroom (#2). She had an outhouse..lol.
-
I go outside to be in the outdoors. ;-)

Outside. There is no such thing as "outdoors." Anyone who says so is a liar, and as such, will be executed. However, if they said there are "out-doors," they are fine....there are such things as out-doors.
-
As a non native speaker in my pre-AB-time I only knew outside. Here I learned the expression outdoors which seems to be more rare indeed as expected. Thank y'all for teaching me a new expression!

I use "going outside" when I am going out of the house. I use the term "outdoors" when I'm referring to anyplace that is not indoors.
-
Outside is outside the confines of your home, usually in your yard. Outdoors can also be outside but it is more liberal in that it includes all of nature. Out simply refers to when you leave the house to go do/get something.
-
Outside. If outside of the house/building. Outdoors if camping, etc.
