  • it could be a few things. first check to make sure nothing is grounding out. old wires in the car could be touching metal grounding it out. another thing is check the type of battery, if its the wrong size like to small or to few amps it could be overheating. also check out all things running while driving, it could be drawing to many amps over wires that are just worn out. may be time to start replacing wires, like ones to brake lights, headlights, dashlights, little things like that.
  • First off, thank you Jehadb, while your response was typical of a mechanic, it got me thinking because I did check all of those things, and the funny thing is when I checked the fuses before I posed this, I missed some, there was a big wod of wires blocking 3 fuses and I missed them. when I went back to check the fuses after reading your response I noticed those fuses and wouldn't you believe it........1 5amp fuse was blown. I replaced it, and my battery is keeping a charge and is no longer overheating.....thank you much.
