I've heard of meat causing stuff like that for a while now. Oh well, I'm a vegetarian, anyway. :D

I gave up red meat for about six years and I felt much better when I didn't eat it. I only eat the occasional steak or burger now, and when I do, it makes me very sleepy. I don't think humans were ever meant to be carnivores. Everything we need, nutritionally, can be found in other foods.

Anytime a study comes out suggesting something might be unhealthy, the opposition can be counted on to say the research is faulty..... Often they have enough money to pay off enough scientist to publish a contradictory report.

It doesn't sound surprising to me that red meat has risky side effects, but I'm not going to stop eating it.

The report you cite, from the American Institute for Cancer Research and the World Cancer Research Fund, is reputable but doesn't really present any shocking new findings. It does not "condemn consumption of red meat" but merely recommends limiting it to 500 grams (about a pound) per week. They stress a diet consisting of white meat, plenty of vegetables, and avoidance of processed food, avoidance of excess sugar, limiting alcohol, and overall caloric restriction. Nothing really new there, either.
