Live in an old trailer. Few electrical issues to date -- light switch bad, ceiling fan quit. Now a light switch in kitchen quit? Just a bad/old switch or do I worry about faulty wiring & possible fire?

I think you need more lightbulbs. You should check the fusebox, if you have one. Dont let it go though, it could be an exposed wire, and could start a fire.

It could be both. Take out the switch, see if it is in working condition. Replace it if necessary. They are cheap. But I might want to get a tester and go through your electrical, or get an electrician if you don't know how to check.

It is probably just a the small appliances so check them and the fuse box if you cannot see anything it is not worth taking a risk, get an electrician to check the wiring. I would imagine that should be the responsibility of your landlorfd if you have one.

I would say you probably answered you own question you live in an old trailer, things wear out, when you get older you will realize just how true that is.

Turn off the breakers and remove the switchplate from the switch and then the switch from the outlet box. The wires are probably pushed into holes in the back. This is a labor saving way of wiring switches and outlets but becomes a headache for homeowners down the road (like yourself). Buy a new switch and connect the wires using the terminal screws on the sides, NOT the ''push in holes'' in the back. Using the holes, your only connection point is a small piece of spring metal within the device. Once it has been subjected to heat (amperage) or vibration (physical use) the spring loses it's tension and your connection fails.

in older trailers they are wired cheap cheap cheap I would replace all outlets and switches house trailers do not have a box that the outlet or switch is in should solve your problems but if you dont know ele work than call a expert and if you do do it yourself make dam sure the power is OFF !!!!!!
