If I am not mistaken, it would be the lungs. I've read and heard of autopsies where the medical examener would place the lungs in water to see if a breath was drawn.

- dont mean to be obtuse here but what does that mean if a breath has been drawn, the person is dead, right? I know they are trying to prove cause of death but why would that matter.

- To see if a last breath was drawn or if they were drowned, the lungs would be weighed down with the liquid of whatever they were drowned in.
