  • It depends on the situation and the time of year. When the wife and I get into it, I usually hit the garage and do something with my tools, either work on the car or repair stuff or even build something once in a while. During the summer it is the yard, and cooking on the BBQ with a cold beer in one hand is as relaxing as it gets for me. Other times it is my den, where I can close the door, read, write, or just listen to music and let my soul ease back in from a hectic day.

  • My family on my mother's side all attended a little church out in the coutry (the minister was what they called a "circuit rider" travelling an area to preach at different rural churches. Five generations of our family are buried in the cemetary there. The church and cemetary are in a clearing in the woods on top of a ridge. It is totally quiet and beautiful. I've been there an entire day before, cleaning the cemetary, and not a single car has passed. I love the solitude, closeness of nature, and the feeling that I am surrounded by so may of my loved ones, some that I never knew, but because of them I am here.
