Another aspect to consider is the source of your information. I'll bet that Islamic news sources, especially the radical ones, do not refer to their "jihad" as terrorism. They may, however, refer to Israeli activities as murder, genocide, or ethnic cleansing. The media tends to bend the news to fit their audience(s).

When it is state sponsored it is called 'defence'. When people try to repel invaders and daily attacks on women and children it is called terrorism. I have no axe to grind about the right of Israel to exist, but their tactics are the sort of tactics used against them during the holocaust. State sponsored terror is still terror no matter how it is painted in the US media and government circles. Semantics are often employed to make one category of people either freedom fighters, terrorists or insurgents. It depends on who is reporting the news and what political agenda they have.

I flagged this question as offensive because the first part of your question, "When Israel kills innocents...", is based on an incorrect assumption.

Israel is basically at war with Palestine. In war accidents happen. People, innocent people, die. The reason this is NOT terrorism is because Israel is a country, like it or not, it is accepted internationally as an independent country and as such can not be a terrorist organisation. Terrorists, by definition, is a group that normally try to align themselves to a country but are NOT acting on that countries official wishes/orders ect.
