Yes. Because of cell phones, pay phones are not profitable anymore and the phone company are taking them out of places.

I don't think so. There are some people who have no choice than to use pay phones, such as homeless people. Pay phones are becoming rare because they are competing with cell phones. Today's lifestyle pretty much demands cell phones as we are often away from home.

They're certainly rarer than before. But they're still scattered all over the world. Especially in countries where cellphone use is limited.
