If the US loves freedom, hates tyranny, loves democracy, hates terrorism, etc...WHY are they best friends with Saudi Arabia?

Our GOVERNMENT is friends with Saudi Arabia, and our Government is hypocritical. I would hope that the educated US Citizens would not bow to tyranny. We didn't in 1776.

because, the US loves freedom and democracy as long as you pay for it. It hates terrorism, unless it is terrorism perpetrated by the US itself, then its fine (if theres some oil involved too, thats a bonus) and lastly, it loves saudi arabia because of the oil and the bin ladens.

"Best Friends" is an over statement. It is a relationship of economics and diplomacy. The Saudi Royal family that runs the country is much less radical than the mainstream Islamists in the country and if the royal family there loses power we will be dealing with a full blown enemy potentially as well as a disruption in world oil flow. It is called being allies, and as it has always been throughout history, some alliances are less savory than others. Not all allies are always friends, sometimes it is the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" approach.

It's called oil. The jihadists led by Bin Laden threaten the royal family's hold on the throne. But, they can't be seen to fight other muslims so they use the united states to do their dirty work and they pimp us out for oil.
