I have taken in lots of kittens, and have four living with us still. Love Cats! The UAE is has soooo many street cats, and because of the heat they breed continuously. The municipality has a sterilisation programme but not many people are that interested in trapping the cats, taking them to the clinic and then setting them free again. We have an organisation called Feline Friends here that help out, but funds, volunteers and space are always a problem. The biggest problem of all are the expats that go home over summer for 6-8 weeks to avoid the extreme heat, and leave their poor kitties to fend for themselves :-(

Many times. My family became known as the ones who never turned down an animal. People would bring us strays all the time. We always had 6 or 7 cats. One time my sister and I found a litter of kittens in the local laundromat and brought them home. Someone had just left them there in a dirty box. Their eyes were not even open yet. I shudder to think what happened to their mom. We looked for her and waited by the kittens for a while to see if she would come, but she was nowhere. We fed the kittens with doll bottles and eventually found homes for all of them. My older sister has always had an affinity for animals and in addition to her regular job, she now runs an animal rescue out of her home. Many an unwanted animal has found love and care in her house. And not just cats - small dogs, lizards, a pig......The pig is great. Her name is Lucy.

Sure have taken in lots of kittens and puppies because they were abandoned and in need of care and attention. Got them sorted and in new homes.. so it's all good :))
