There is no straight coastline anywhere in the world! Natural formations like coastlines don't conform to geometric ideals, they're wiggly and squiggly and crevicey. It is we who come along and superimpose these abstract ideas with our thoughts. If you actually LOOK at a coastline... where the water meets the land, there isn't a straight line to be found at all.
