Pagan holidays are always an influence.

Eggs are a symbol of birth and rebirth that goes along with the Jesus theme well.

Bunnies. Well not really. Hares were associated with the holiday due to them being a symbol of the moon (also the symbol of Eostre, a Celtic Goddess). They were said to be all seeing as they are born with their eyes open. Rabbits are born blind.

New clothes. You want to look nice for Easter Church don't you?

Baskets. To hold the goodies. Probably egg baskets containing just that. Over time they were used for candies and small presents as well.

They're not. Easter was to worship Astarte, long before Jesus showed up. We Christians have been duped by centuries of tradition (mostly because of the "ROMAN Catholic Church"). Remember that the Romans adopted any and every new religion, including, as the Christian apostle Paul said, "The Unknown God". Whether they know it or not, the Catholics are more Roman than Christian.

Jesus said, "Your traditions make the Word of God of no effect"...and "You teach your traditions above the Word of God". Pretty plain, huh?

The easter eggs are used as a representative to life, being borned. Bunnies however have nothing to do.

Easter has nothing to do with Christ. It was a pagan fertility ritual, a festival kept in the spring. Spring is associated with new life. All the customs are of pagan derivation and are against the teachings that are laid down in the Bible.

Christ died and was resurrected in the spring, but it was the passover season. He died on passover and was resurrected at the end of that week. They chose a Sunday for Easter because of misinterpreting the scriptures. Being in same time frame, and on a Sunday, and associating the resurrection with rebirth made it very convenient for taking the pagan customs of Easter and calling them Christian.

How deceptive The Catholic and Christian Churches have been.

If you study the scriptures closely, you will find that Christ did not really rise on Sunday, for He was already gone when they went back to the tomb. It was early in the morning and it was still dark. The true Biblical day starts when the sun comes up, not when it goes down like the Jews have observed for centuries. When the sun goes down, it is the end of the day. Think about it.

Another pagan custom is Easter sunrise observance. This shows that people did understand that the day begins with the sunrise, but it is called an abomination in the book of Ezekiel.

    Think about it...
Easter is like, Spring time. You know its spring when trees sprout new leaves, flowers pop up, and of course...baby critters!!! So all in all, everything is becoming fertile. What not a better symbol for fertility than the rabbit? Rabbits have no heat cycle, which means they can get pregnant at ANY time of the year. They can even get pregnant 72 hours after having a litter. They can have up to 12 babies at a time. And they're not picky about mates. So I guess bunnies became more of a symbol of spring than Easter. But Easter is widely associated with Spring as being 'the' Spring holiday on calenders.
Eggs too are a good fertility symbol. But whilte and biege brown eggs are kinda boring. I know, lets make them pink and blue and bright happy apring clors, eh?
New clothes: Spring....everything is fresh and new! New clothes to look good for church, eh? My grandma always bought me the most ridiculous clothes....
Baskets....put your eggs in it I guess. A good display item.

I think the notion of a rabbit wearing a bonnet and tossing eggs is awful.

  • Where did the Idea for an Easter "Bunny" come from?because I dont think it says anything about a bunny during easter in the bible,Unless I'm wrong? And how come we have easter eggs,do bunny's lay eggs or something?
  • Why is it we (UK) have an 'Easter Bunny' and not an Easter 'Duck' or 'Fish' or 'wasp' or whatever? Easter Bunny is associated with Easter eggs, but I've never seen a rabbit lay an egg...
