  • Yes. http://www.drugs.com/ultram.html Ultram is a narcotic-like pain reliever. Ultram is used to treat moderate to severe pain. Ultram extended-release is used to treat moderate to severe chronic pain when treatment is needed around the clock. Ultram may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication
  • Yes, Ultram is an opioid analgesic. http://opioids.com/tramadol/prescribe.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tramadol http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/tramadol_od.htm "ULTRAM should not be administered to patients who have previously demonstrated hypersensitivity to tramadol, any other component of this product or opioids. ULTRAM is contraindicated in any situation where opioids are contraindicated, including acute intoxication with any of the following: alcohol, hypnotics, narcotics, centrally acting analgesics, opioids or psychotropic drugs. ULTRAM may worsen central nervous system and respiratory depression in these patients."
  • well, its not molecularly structured as an opiate, so technicnally no. Its an analgesic, but it binds to your opiod receptors, and acts as an opiate. My husband has to take it on a daily basis. He says it doesn't buzz him up like vicodin would, but he does get pain relief from it.
  • It is a synthetic opiate. I also nearly ripped off my skin when i had the slow-release of it.
  • i take Ultram for chronic joint pain and restless leg syndrome The first time I took it, I was threw up all day. I didn't touch it for a few months and then decided to give it another try. I know there are so many worse ailments out there but restless leg syndrome is something so annoying and frustrating that I gave it another try. Now, I have never been sick and it completely takes care of both of my problems. It makes me itch but mildly. I have had a few other side effects- my nose and other extremities get cold, I have occasional constipation and I feel really horny! I'm not trying to be funny or weird- just honest. Maybe a doctor or biochemist could explain those symptoms, all I know is that it works for me.
  • I can tell you its easy to get from a doc. Ive been addicted to pain pills since i was 15 now 32 when i run out i try and find ultram so i dont get dope sick and get off just like pain pills(pain pills meaning hydro and the like). yeah they are addicting to an addict but whats not!!!..
  • Its not apparently, check out Tramadol (which is another name for it) It is a synthetic opiate which means it mocks what a real opiate would do. It can be addictive just like an opiate because it mocks the same effects of a opiate. I have been in chronic pain for 8 years and it really helps me be able to function at work and school. I do get side effects like trenchmouth sometimes but this can be taken care of by a doctor. I do want to STRONGLY say that there are severe withdrawl symptoms if stopped suddenly very much like a opiate withdrawl. You can avoid this by titrating off the med with unde ryour doctors care. I tried to quit it once without titrating and basicaly had a psychotic episode and severe physical withdrawl symptoms.
  • Yes, Tramadol is an mu-agonist. It is a Synthetic opioid with mechanisms similar to the Morphine class. Go to google.com, type in Tramadol, and click on the www.rx..... link and it will explain the clinical pharmacology. Also, www.ultram.com has full downloadable analyisis from the Lab stating that it is a mu-opioid.
