  • Yes, because the probability that they'll *all* fail is extremely unlikely.
  • Living only a few hundred miles from Palo Verde, no. But do I dwell on thinking about the end of the world, no. I just go with the flow.
  • It could be worse. You could be raped by a clown. How would that be for ya? Huh?
  • Yes because getting fear out of such improbable stuff would hinder my life uselessly... some other situations are more probable and worry me a little more.
  • I feel safe because those who maintain such power plants do everything they can not to fuck things up. They know that it's also them who would suffer the consequences if they ever did anything wrong.
  • Yes. Imagine life without a source of energy. There are more important things to worry about. If you really want to challenge statistics, stop driving on freeways. That will lower your statistical probability of death much more than cessation of nuclear power generation. We're ALL going to die of something - the mortality rate for homo sapiens is 100 percent. Get a grip.
  • Well, I did feel safe till you made me think about it! Thanks a lot! :)
  • No I haven't felt safe since I left the womb.. and I'm not talking about last weekend.
  • When handled carefully - yes. However - people get lazy and stupid far too often when dealing with nuclear materials.
  • No, first- cause humans are prone to get sloppy and complacent second the waste is a horror for future generations third- as stupid as it sounds I worry about the weight change of making plutonium from lighter matter, it has to add up someday just as carbon-dioxide has
  • Certainly it is safe. The U.S. Navy, the French, and the Swiss have been using nuclear power for years with little or no problems. The man problem with the U.S. system is the over control and political intrusion into the process is the problem. Like the Navy, only professionals should be involved in the placement, operation, and disposal of nuclear waste. This is not an area for amateurs, politicians, and the ignorant. The French can build a safe, efficient nuclear power station with very little fuss, why can't we? Politics, that's why.
  • There is no energy source in the universe totally safe! For instance a fall down candle could have burned up an ancient town causing fire in a windy day!
  • just imagine what research into alternatives the money to buld these thing would have provided through the decades. chernobyl proved they are unsafe
  • Well the answer will be both yes and no ! Well my opinion is no because today no place is secure in the world. The most danger is of the international terrorism the nuclear plants are easy target for them by this they can target more people for many years ! and another problem is that if there is war then it is the main target of the enemy. So i dont think its secure.
  • nah! its a curse for all who have it or willing to have it because we(human) make this for kill ourself(humans)!
  • look its probably ok in itself, but, ............ and that's a big but, there are always possibility for problems,/ why take the risk!! here in NZ, we are totally nuclear free, YEE HAA!!!
  • YES IF FULLY CONTROLLED, BUT I THINK FOR USE IN ELECTRICITY FOR HOMES. IT WOULD MAKE MORE SENSE TO USE SOLAR OR THE NEW FANS THAT CREATE ELECTRICITY, SO THE EXTRA ELECTRICITY RETURNS TO THE POWER COMPANY AND THEY PAY YOU FOR THE EXTRA POWER, INSTEAD OF INSTALLING NUCLEAR PLANTS, SO YOU ALWAYS PAY, PAY AND KEEP PAYING, PLUS THE WASTE A NUCLEAR PLANT PRODUCES. THEN YOU HAVE TO STICK IT SOMEWHERE.
  • So many controls to make it safe it is arguable that it is unsafe.
  • Hell no. Its too damn unsafe.
  • A lot safer than the crap the politicians are currently pushing on us. It's tried and proven technology.
  • gaddemet ! i already answer this fucking question !
  • Absolutely, yes. Nuclear power is very safe, and all of Europe has it as its standard and nobody complains at all!
  • Nuclear power, yes. It's all that waste they keep burying around the world that concerns me.
  • Three Mile Island,Chernobyl, NO!!!
