Diets only work if you commit! The key word here is discipline! No pain, no gain...or in this case, loss. All joking aside, the very first thing I would recommend you do is talk to an expert on your particular condition. If you haven't heard of it, there's an incredible service online called LivePerson. Every person has a diet because a diet is how you normally eat. Some people have bad diets and some people choose to cut out certain foods in order to lose weight. Diets do work but the key is to choose a diet you can live with for the rest of your life. Eating natural foods, drinking lots of water, not over eating, eating desserts infrequently, these are all keys to having a good diet and to having a diet work for you.

A "diet" is simply the food consumed in a day (proper definition). However, you mean a weight-loss oriented diet right? Such diets can work if the proper principles are followed. Fad diets tend not to work. This is one of those keep-it-simple-stupid things. Eat a reasonable amount, eat healthy, exercise. That diet works.

The people who say diets don't work are weak of mind and can't stick to anything. Losing weight is simple maths, there is no can't in losing weight.

The word diet is taboo. You need to change your eating patterns, period. You need to eat healthy products and you need to eat in portion control. I wish I could practice what I preach!
