  • Yes. Even in fibre optics, the signal is basically a voltage (or a current) signal. Digitisation of a signal is done only for our advantage, in terms of processing, transmission etc. But there is no digital signal in reality.
  • Jack gave a GREAT Response. I would like to add a little more to support his answer. I feel like yelling whenever I hear someone refer to "digital signals" floating around in space and in wires. The signals that you are refering to are converted to voltages (or currents) at the receiving end. Information can be encoded into these "signals" as "digital information" or "analog information" and the receiving end electronics will convert the signal to digital or analog information. NO ONE, not your internet provider, your cable TV company, your satellite TV provider, etc transmits digital signals. They transmit digitally encoded information.
