I didn't know they had. I thought they were primarily associated with feeding infants.

Antigone is right, breasts are associated with sex. WHY ? . heck just look at em, I mean just check them out ! they're perfect ! I mean just beautyful ! Now something that is that beautyful, , well how could they NOT be associated with making love or sex. ? ( a besides , thay are associated with sex because many women become aroused when their breasts are stimulated., so in my thoughts, that would be naturaly associated with sex( well these are MY oppinions anyway !)

Breasts Are an essential Part of sex. Some women can even orgasm with stimulation of their nipples. Being a mother and having nursed children, it is interesting to note while nursing the sexual sensation in your breasts goes away until you are done nursing. Then WHOA look out it comes back like a feeling you have never felt before. I love the fact that my breasts are associated with sex, lovemaking, conception, and breast feeding since they all REALLY go hand in hand!!

Because of the long-term requirements for child care, human sexuality is pretty complex. Most other animals have it pretty simple: when the female is ready to breed, she "tells" the world, chooses a male (perhaps after watching his display), mates, and reproduces. If he stays around, that helps. But human babies are so helpless for so long that a human females, in primitive societies at least, a man's help and support if the babies are to stand a reasonable chance of growing up. Hence there needs to be a complex mix of attractors and repellers - come-ons to make the man look at the woman, and stoppers to say "not yet, you have to prove your worth". Variable covering of the breasts works well for this - show a bit of cleavage to lead him on, cover it up to tell him not yet, uncover completely to say "do your stuff, big boy". Also, there has been a switch from the scent-driven to the visual. Many animals signal their status to each other with smells; not so humans. So they need to develop a visual signal to say "nubile female". Or, by the absence of breasts and the presence of hair, "manly man".
