Charlie Horses; (gastrocnemius (calf muscle cramps) are usually caused by muscle fatigue/overuse or electrolyte/mineral imbalances. Perhaps you exercising more lately, or have changed the way you exercise. Calcium/phosphorus/magnesium/potassium lacking in your diet could cause an imbalance. Adding in extra calcium (in the form of Tums) might work for you. Blood work will show if you are deficient in any of the above elements. Check with your doctor to make sure your circulation is normal. Added calcium in your diet either in food or pill form should stop the leg cramps.
