What does it mean if somebody is attracted to people outside their race and not people of their ethnicity? Is it variety they're after?

Perhaps they just look deeper than skin colour or cultural background and see the PERSON that's in there.

For me, I grew up in a mostly white neighborhood so I'm attracted to that I guess. Plus my sister and I hate each other, so I'm sure that goes with why I don't date black women as well.

I do prefer women who are racially different to me, but I like women who are the same race too. I just like women really. But I will admit women of a different ethnicity do hold a certain appeal to me. Nothing wrong with that.

I seriously thought I was the only one. But ever since I got rejected by this non Indian chick (I'm Indian), I've hella been into non Indian chicks in general. I always figured something was wrong with my mentality, but it's a relief to know I'm not the only one.

You are attracted to those races we dont choose what skin colour we feel attraction for we just do I am brown and have also felt more attraction for white chicks

Not necessarily. Maybe they are not racist and want to expand their horizons. They see the person and not the color.

It means you are not ignorant, and see a person for a PERSON. What does the color of someone's skin have to do with the person? There are "bad" people of ALL races, and GOOD people of ALL races. A person can have a "common ground" with anyone with same interests, beliefs, goals, ideas...ETC.....I feel sorry for anyone who judges someone on race or ethnicity. That is like saying choosing someone of another race is the same as picking a different lollipop flavor. A person is a person. PERIOD.

Nothing unusual about that. People do tend to have preferences in terms of what attributes they find attractive. I have a caucasian friend who is ga-ga for Asian women. I myself have a thing for blondes with blue eyes....it's really very simple. People may also be attracted to other ethnicities because of something they find interesting, exciting, or something that rings true to them. Isn't it great that we're all so different?

For me I would much rather date a man with darker skin... I like this because I am white... i mean real white with freckles and I don't like it. But when your heart tells you their is something special about someone you go for it no matter if they are white black short or tall! love is love!

OK.... growing up and going through high school I saw the girls and for some reason I didn't care for what I saw. I think it manifested itself in me having little interest in American women. I've had two partners, neither of which has been American and whose languages were not English. I think I was hoping to find what I didn't previously see in American women. I realize now that I jumped to conclusions and found that having foreigners as partners can be far more complicated than having an American partner. My next partner (should it come to that, of course) will be American. The person you describe may be going through what I went through. They may actually re-evaluate their thinking in the future but I think that's something that needs to happen on their on time, at their own pace.

Race and ethnicity considerations are social impositions. When it comes to raw natural attraction, physical as well as emotional and mental, it's the person that counts. Social considerations become immaterial, or, at most, secondary. Whether the two persons go ahead and make a life of it depends upon how strong their feelings are about staying within the bounds imposed by their respective societies.
