Get some nice French bread, some Garlic butter with chives(most stores sell it) or mix chive's in....Cut the french bread in half horizontally, coat the cut bread with the garlic butter mixture and toast under your broiler till the butter starts to look a little burnt, take out and cut to desired lengths and enjoy, there are many variations to this, you can add cinnamon, cheese, etc...

Set a stick of butter out to get room temperature and softer. Either drop some peeled cloves of garlic down a whirring food processor and then add your soften butter or grate your garlic in a bowl and add your softened butter. Then add if you like Parmesan cheese or pecorino, some parsley or chives. Whir or mix. Then two choices again. You can cut a whole French stick or batard lengthwise and then slather on the butter mixture and broil till it's done or you can partially slice the loaf but leave the bottom of each slice a little attached about every 3/4- 1 " apart on the diagonal. Then slather between getting all surfaces. Wrap in foil and pop into hot, 425° oven for 10-12 minutes, check to see if it;s done enough for you. If not, put it in without foil to brown a little.

When my mom makes garlic bread she puts some garlic, oregano, parmesian cheese, and olive oil and puts it in the toaster oven for a little while. It tastes delicious.

1 loaf artisan French bread or wide baguette 1 - 2 heads of garlic 1 - 2 sticks of unsalted butter 1 bunch of chives (optional) zest of one lemon (optional) Slice that loaf of bread right up the middle so you have two halves Now set them on their backs, cut side up. Mince the garlic or push it through one of those crushers . Now add it to the butter you should be melting in a small saucepan. Slather garlic butter on the bread and let it soak in. 'Double-bake' it. First at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes to heat the bread and then brown it off for color under the broiler for a minute or two. When the bread is finished broiling let it cool for a minute or two. This is when I sprinkle with the lemon zest and chives (and to be honest, I sprinkle a bit of zest on the bread before it goes in the oven too because I like that roasted lemon flavor alongside the garlic.)

Mix the butter, garlic, and parsley together in a small bowl. Spread butter mixture over the the two bread halves. Place on a sturdy baking pan (one that can handle high temperatures, not a cookie sheet) and heat in the oven for 10 minutes.Remove pan from oven. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over bread if you want. Return to oven on the highest rack. Broil on high heat for 2-3 minutes until the edges of the bread begin to toast and the cheese bubbles.

A little different, but REALLY good: Mash the garlic with a bit of salt, mix with softened butter and a teaspoon of dijon. Cut a loaf of french bread in half lengthwise, spread the butter mixture on each cut surface. Sprinkle with cracked or coarsely grated pepper. Top with grated gruyere cheese. Pop under the broiler til browned and bubbling! Yum!
